Book Earth's End (Air Awakens Series Book 3) Review :

I absolutely loved Book 1 and 2. I was almost dying to read book 3 obviously because of the cliffhanger. I still don't know how I feel about EE. The fact that I'm not currently reading it all over again (as I usually do when I love a book) is enough for me to know a lot is bothering me.I loved:• Baldair, I never expected a friendship to grow with him and I loved it, he's amazing!• Elecia being friends with Fritz, I'd like to read more about those two• Jax! (best character of EE)• Aldrik challenging the Emperor• Vhalla realizing strength doesn't come from other people's comforting• The battle scenes (the bird <3)Didn't love:• The romance:Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Aldrik and Vhalla, they're my ultimate OTP, but I feel some scenes and what they said to each other was too cheesy, for instance whenever he said "my Vhalla, my lady, my love" would've worked better for me shorter as in "my Vhalla, my love" or simply "my love". However, I thank Elise Kova for writing romance scenes without being overly descriptive, that worked really well!• The confusion with Daniel:Ok, of course you don't lose your eyes once you're taken and you can appreciate a hot guy, specially if he's your friend, but I didn't like the momentum the confusion happened and how it happened. I mean, Daniel's sweet and I like him but how things evolved tainted their relationship and Vhalla's love for Aldrik for me. Her constant confusion and lust around him made me feel she didn't really mean her love for Aldrik, I didn't buy her jealousy or her "devotion" for him after Daniel's scenes.• The ending :(Of course I'll continue this series, I need to know what happens. I think Elise Kova has created a beautiful world that keeps getting darker as we continue Vhalla's journey. My heart broke so many times is like dust right now, I already abandoned a series because the writer slaughtered my favorite character, I hope this doesn't happen with Aldrik.
I have got to tell you, the first 2 books in this series are great. I truly recommend reading them. As for the 3rd.... not so much, but is a read to see the resolution to the cliffhanger in the 2nd book. After that is a bit of a let down in my opinion. I will be honest I got through 65% of the 4th book and just could not go on. The problems for me began in the 3rd book and just continued on through the 4th with no sign of anything getting any better.**Here There Be Spoilers*** I really did want to like the 3rd book but I just couldn't. The book seems to stutter... flipping between things or advancing in an odd way that makes it feel like the book skipped or stuttered like an old record. The author would go to great pains to describe everyone in a particular setting and then someone who was not described starts talking. There was even the explicit mention of someone excluded who shows up and provides input that suggests they were there all along. I had to reread several sections to be sure I did not miss anything.* We talk about a crystal ax in a previous book and then it is not mentioned until the end of the 3rd where the main character, without any real research, knows exactly where to find it. Then she hides it and does not use it. It was hidden, it was safe; but then the main character removes it only to hide it.* We had a moment of sympathy for the enemy and then we are all happy about totally wiping out another culture.* We were supposed to be doing a special Wind Walker only mission but that gets pushed to the last minute and only after the Emperor threatens the main character.* The majors are for her, but not. They stand up to a mean ruler when she is there and nothing bad ever happens to them. History has shown that when that happens the ruler punishes the dissenters and that would have made for a better story.I went on to the 4th book hoping that it would get better. It does not.* We are captured by the Knights of Jadar and one could hope that we are taken into their world, learn their motives, and maybe even sympathize with them; but, alas, that is not the case. Not only that but the Knights are defeated in the first half of the book and in a rather pathetic fashion.* The main character is still extremely dependent on others and far too trusting. She has had a lot happen to her, one would think that she would have developed some smarts, but that is not the case.* She runs back to the Prince even though she should not and he is engaged. The main character spent most of the 4th book looking like she was healing and moving on only to run back to the Prince when he beckons her.The first 2 books were fun reads, and I would read other books by this author, but I just cannot finish this series. Sorry.
